Professional Workshop, Friday, Oct. 22: Exploring Mindful Eating: Research, Practice, and Application
Day One of Discover Mindful Eating is designed for professionals who work with clients with disordered eating and eating disorders (e.g., binge eating and bulimia nervosa). Learn about the research on the life-affirming practice of mindful eating, understand the philosophical underpinnings, learn how to introduce mindful eating and related practices to your clients, and practice mindful eating yourself. Specialized resources for ongoing support to you after the workshop will be provided.
Public Workshop, Saturday, Oct. 23: The Joy of Mindful Eating
On Day Two, open to both professional and public audiences, learn BASICS of Mindful Eating, a tool which can change the way you eat forever. Learn to use mindfulness to identify hunger and satiety, to soothe your emotions without food, to connect to your body with compassion, and to savor food for the greatest enjoyment. Largely experiential, this workshop will generate a greater appreciation for eating, feelings of gratitude for your body, and the desire to care for your body with joy.
Our current plan is to offer the workshop virtually and in-person. If the changing COVID situation requires, we may limit or eliminate the in-person component of the workshops. Note that our in-person venue requires everyone to show proof of vaccination, use a mask, and practice social distancing.
Fees: $150 for 1 day; $250 for 2 days. Early Bird (register by Oct. 7th): $125 for 1 day; $225 for 2 days.
Scholarships are available. CEs will be available for social workers (11 hours); $100 fee.
