Doodles Academy Art Camp

This Summer: Conquer Boredom & Delight your Creative Child

Each week, your artist will dive into a topic. They'll be inspired by history, motivated by other artists, and encouraged to connect all of this to their own lives in creative ways. Each week, students will work towards completing a final project that will be as unique as they are.

*for a detailed description of each week, view the complete catalog here.
*Sign up for the entire 6 week session here

Class Descriptions

Wk 1: 6/24-6/28: Artist, Explorer, Scientist

This week, students learn about how artists, explorers, and scientists use observation drawing in their work. Throughout the week they have the chance to 'become' all three, studying and drawing animals of their choice. They end the week by creating prints that they can exchange with their classmates.

Wk 2: 7/1-7/5: Embracing Challenges

This week, students are presented with a series of artistic challenges, and by weeks end they have created a unique sculpture from recycled materials.

Wk 3: 7/8-7/12: Designing the Zodiac

Students learn about how our sky has been interpreted by different cultures around the world. They create their own constellation 'origin story' and by weeks end have an artwork to accompany it.

Wk 4: 7/15-7/19: Rainforest Creature Marionettes

Students learn ways that rainforest animals defend themselves. They brainstorm the ideal creature to live in the rainforest, then create marionette puppets of their creatures.

Wk 5: 7/22-7/26: Create-a-Creature

(5-8 yrs) Students learn about how different cultures have created composition creatures, or chimeras. Through painting and printmaking they develop a chimera creature, complete with habitat and backstory.

Wk 5: 7/22-7/26: Art & Advocacy

(8-11 yrs) Students learn about how graphic designers advocate for causes they care about through design. Students choose an issue that they feel strongly about, and as they design a poster, research their topic and develop an advocacy campaign.

Wk 6: 7/29-8/2: Me & My Monster

Inspired by Shel Silverstein’s poems in, ‘Don’t Blump the Glump”, students write a poem and create an artwork about themselves and their monster helper.
