St. Joseph Mercy Health System, University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, and William Rob Juergens present: The Cancer Support Community’s 13th Annual Amazing Race, to be held virtually on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 4 pm.


The event will require a combination of brainpower, imagination, and a healthy dose of silliness. Teams can be composed of people from various locations, and all ages are welcome. You will work together to solve puzzles and complete activities, all while competing with the other participants in real-time!

How much does it cost to participate?

An Amazing Race ticket costs $50 and covers the entry of up to four players on your team.

 

How many people can be on a team?

Teams can be up to four people.

 

Does my team have to be in the same physical location? 

Team members can join for their own homes on up to 4 separate devices.

Example of Teams:

  1. The Amazing Racers
    1. Sally & Bob join from a tablet at their home in Saline, MI.
    2. Sue and Don join from a smartphone in Ann Arbor, MI.
  2. The Wolverines
    1. Chelsea joins on her smartphone in New York, NY.
    2. Kyle joins on his tablet in Brighton, MI.
    3. Liz joins on her smartphone in Chicago, IL.
    4. Adam joins from his smartphone in Orlando, FL.
  3. The Smith Family
    1. Tammy Smith, her husband, and her two children all join from their own smartphones at their home in Ann Arbor, MI.

 

What technology do I need?

Teams will need at least one smartphone or tablet with access to the internet. The free app GooseChase will need to be downloaded on any device used during the Amazing Race. Click here to learn more about downloading the app. 

 

How do I join the game on the day of the race?

At or before 4 pm on Saturday, June 5th, each player should join the game on GooseChase. To join the game, players need to open the app and select play as a guest and input the access code that will be sent to you the week of the event. CSC will create your teams within GooseChase. Once the player has joined the game, they will need to select their team name to start the game. The first mission will drop at 4:15 pm. 

 

How to earn points in the game? 

To complete a mission, select it from the list and follow the instructions to receive the allotted points. Sometimes you'll be submitting a photo or video, while other times, you'll be solving a puzzle or riddle. 

 

How do I see how the competition is doing? 

The ability to see everything as it happens is one of the best parts of the Virtual Amazing Race. Whenever someone completes a mission, it's added to the activity feed, and the rankings are automatically updated. If you're as competitive as we are, you'll realize how awesome this is! At any given moment, you will know precisely how you're ranking and what needs to be done to win.
