Chelsea House Orchestra’s (CHO) highly anticipated annual Hometown Show will take place on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at Chelsea High School. This exciting show gives local audiences a chance to see why this group of talented musicians has been in demand at events and festivals throughout the Midwest for over 20 years.
The Hometown Show opens with Beach Middle School’s Fiddle Club, featuring 4th-8th grade orchestra students, led by director Nathan Peters. Next, CHO welcomes the Craig Highland Dancers, led by Chelsea alumnus Jennifer Craig.
Chelsea House Orchestra will then bring their toe-tapping “Celtic with a Kick” performance to the stage. Their set features Scottish and Irish traditional tunes and Celtic renditions of American folk songs, with inspirations from genres and cultural influences thrown in for fun. This lively and fun show will keep you clapping and smiling all evening long, with alumni joining in for the finale.
Tickets for the 2019 Hometown Show are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, with discounts available for groups of 5 or more. Tickets are available online and at the door. Tickets for large groups may be reserved by emailing [email protected]
Chelsea House Orchestra is a nonprofit educational performance group consisting of music students from Chelsea High School’s orchestra, band, and choir programs. Directed by CHO alumnus and Crossbow founder, Steve Lesko, and Chelsea High School’s new Orchestra Director Phillip Sylvester, CHO continues a two decade tradition founded by Jed Fritzemeier in 1997.
Supported solely by performances, donations and sales of CDs and merchandise, all monies raised are used for equipment, workshops, recording sessions, and travel expenses. CHO performs at fairs, festivals, and special events throughout the Midwest, including the Alma Highland Festival, Edinboro Highland Games, Chicago Scots Highland Games, and Michigan Irish Music Festival. CHO toured Scotland in 2016, and recently returned from touring China in the spring of 2019.
